This is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Merlot from two elevated sites in the King Valley Winegrowing Region. Each batch was fermented separately, blended, then put through malolactic fermentation. The wine was then aged in oak for ten months and lightly filtered prior to bottling.
Drinking well now but will reward a number of years’ development. Deep crimson with mauve hues at the rim. Developing aromas of blackcurrant and cherry syrup. Full bodied flavours of blackberry and cherry within integrated structured Cabernet tannins. Nuances of briar fruits and herb lead to a lingering finish of berry fruits.
James Halliday says:
Strong colour; has good weight and substance to its blackcurrant and spice fruit, with ripe tannins in very good balance. Well-made wine. 90 points
